Eldy and intergenerational projects

Project Name: young(YOung) and increased(SEniors) together online, with Eldy (YOUSEN)

10.000 elementary students.
10,000 formed higher.

Eldy NGO initiated intergenerational project 2011 involving more than 20.000 people in Italy: students from both primary and secondary schools, teachers, seniors and Public Administration.

Students lived experience of voluntary action as “Eldy facilitators” to teach seniors computer ABC: how to send an e-mail, how to surf the Internet, how to use the chat to meet new people and keep in touch with your family, how to make a video call to his parents, as well as to manage documents and digital photographs.

The project was sponsored by the Ministry of Social Welfare, by the Public Administration through Italy and other private sponsors interested in strengthening their corporate social responsibility. Public administration recognizes the initiative as an opportunity to promote digital inclusion through IT and, thus, increase the participation of older persons in social life.

The innovative approach to platform Eldy, experience including one year, the presence of a large community of lively 400.000 users and the participation of volunteers who gave support contributed to the great success of “Young and not so young en Network With Eldy” ( Young and old network with Eldy) project which has seen positive results in promoting adult literacy in the digital world and solidarity between generations.

Eldy, which represent the key element of the project, not only simplifies, teaching and learning, but also more interaction and solidarity between young and elderly, in line with the main principles of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
